Holiday, Thanksgiving: A talented musician, arranger, and composer, Bob Gallo was one of the first arranger/producers to encompass large orchestrations in pop music. The beautiful and haunting melodies he’s composed for this album are a precipitation of 38 years of experience.
Easy Listening & New Age. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Bob Gallo first became involved in music at the age of fifteen when he formed a band called The Starfires. He developed a strong interest in the recording aspect of the business and for a year worked in a New York City studio without pay while he learned how to engineer a recording session. He spent another year attending the New York Television Workshop mastering the art of special effects, video and audio editing, stage lighting and camera techniques.
At the age of 21 he happened to be involved in the production of a song called “Sixteen Candles” which became a number one record and his career as a music producer began.
A talented musician, arranger and composer in his own right, Bob has produced many hit records since the late 60’s. Working for Atlantic, then CBS Records, Gallo was responsible for the production of many hit singles and albums including; Man’s World by James Brow, Ninety-Six Tears by Question Mark and the Mysterions, and Groovin’ by the Young Rascals. He also wrote and produced numerous songs for Ben E. King, Patti LaBelle, Peter Best, The Drifters, Bo Diddley, and Jimmy Young and was a major factor in the acceptance of Black R&B Music on Pop Radio. Also, having a classical background, Bob was one of the first arranger/producers to encompass large orchestrations in Pop Music.
Gallo’s travels brought him to Canada many times and since 1974 has been living and working out of Toronto and is responsible for many top twenty hit records invluding Jackson Hawk, The Hellfield Band, Zon and the first Nylons album, which reached gold and platinum status, just to name a few.
Bob Gallo is still producing pop artists but has also moved on to writing scores for films and documentaries.
The beautiful and haunting melodies he’s composed for this album are a precipitation of thirty-eight years of experience. Enjoy!!
I have a theory about the recent wave of nostalgia for the music of the early 80s. I don't believe that the reason everyone has been flocking to retro clubs is solely because they are dying to try out their old Flock of Seagulls hairdos. I think that somewhere early in this decade musicians forgot how to write good pop music. While Empire Day's self released CD may not have the power to put some much needed blood back into techno pop it is a step in the right direction.
Empire Day does a lot of things right. They know that what drives techno pop is a simple, clean bass line. They understand that while thick layers of electronic sounds are the bread and butter of most electronic music today, nothing hooks in a listener like a catchy chord progression. The only thing that seems to hold back their songs is a chorus with a vocal line as addictive as their keyboards. The vocal style of singer Marvin Hinman blends perfectly with the music, bathed in reverb and as pained as the whining background guitars, but they never quite open up enough to make me want to jump up and sing along.
I can easily image Empire Day becoming a hit at Chicago dance clubs like Berlin, the old 950, and Exit where the crowd has to be burned out on dancing to the same Depeche Mode and Cure songs they have been hearing since they were in junior high. There is a simple reason that those kids still listen to songs from that era - they were good and few bands since have been able to capture that delicate balance of youthful angst and pop-rock optimism. Empire Day understands this balance. They can skate seamlessly between verses with lonely minor keys that wash over you with thick warm sounds and these bridges were they modulate to a major key for just a brief enough moment to bring this eerie hope to their songs. If people can't help but compare their music to the underground hits of fifteen years ago I hope they take it as a compliment : By Ellen Stenard Chicago Gigs.com

It doesn't take one long to hear the experience shine through in Gene's music. So what does someone do in 35 years of making music? If you are like Gene, you cover everything from Mozart to Zappa. I honestly have to say, that out of all the musicians I have had the pleasure to Spotlight, Gene is by far one of the most talented, versatile artists I have ever heard. I was moved by the pure grace and delivery of his music.
You won't find head-banging, mosh'n tunes here, but you will find some amazing music that is sure to please your ears and maybe even leave wondering "why the hell am I so emotional". Blues baby...Blues!! Gene is an awesome guitarist. With music like this you can picture his performance in your mind (who needs video). It never ceases to amaze me, how one person can possess so much talent. If music don't move you, than you are only getting half of the ride. Strong, passionate, vibrant vocals, Gene will amaze you and leave you in awe. The Dark Horse, Gene's latest CD release, is self produced, engineered, written, arranged, and all instruments and vocals are performed entirely by Gene.
A Brand New Release by Gene Hilbert. Experience the long awaited follow up to "The Dark Horse". This CD is guaranteed to remain in permanent rotation on your play list or CD player.
“My work has been described to me as an interesting mix of styles resembling that of artists like Ry Cooder, David Wilcox, Mark Knopfler, Neil Diamond, Johnny Cash, Gordon Lightfoot, Jeff Beck and others. Well,...I'm truly humbled at the mere thought of any such remote comparisons to these musical giants. Personally I just think I sound like me,... whatever that is,... however, all those personalities have certainly influenced my playing and writing.â€
(Jeff Wyatt – 2008)
With the eclectic concept album 'REFLECTIONS AT EVERY CORNER', veteran guitarist, singer, songwriter Jeff Wyatt presents a clever mix of Blues, Pop, Rock, Folk, Jazz, Ethnic, World and Classical music influences in his original and unique acoustic and electric song stylings. You’ll hear interesting and imaginative guitar and piano instrumentals, as well as songs with a moody and thoughtful lyric content that is both personal and reflective. If you like piano, finger-style acoustic guitar, electric and slide guitar in both raw upbeat, and smooth laidback settings delivered along with deep, rich vocals,... you’ll enjoy this disc. The textures of the occasional orchestrated section add color and warmth for your ears, mind and emotions to become carried away with.

The American Revolution began in Boston. And so now what would "Boston-style" Folk Music be? The answer might surprise you. It is electric rock and roll and acoustic folk blended together by a songwriter whose favorite artists include Aerosmith, Mindless Self Indulgence, and Burl Ives. If you are in the market for a musical adventure, then Mary and the Apple Tree is for you!
Conchology is a series of indie pop short stories, and was written and recorded over a 5 year period. Some of the stories happened to me, some didn't. But I know that the stories that didn't happen to me have happened to other people, and those songs are for them.

Duo Rythmigration "Une journée anonyme"
Jazz Magazine no 568 March 2006 , France .
Henri Roger and Ismael Robert have created a singular duo with a travelling spirit , where piano and percussion converse.
Neither the clear articulation and phrases of each of them, nor their rythmic rigor leave out form freedom and lurches.
If one looks for analogy , we will refer to what Manuel and Patrico Villaroel, or Bobby Few with Cheik Tidiane Fall did in the 70's .
A tasty mix of bold jazz and world music .
Philippe Rober

This CD is Burgaw native and well known Wilmington performer George Herbert Moore's second album. The sixteen tracks on Roots and Shoes, from traditional and original pieces to Jimmy Reed and Muddy Waters covers, displays the breadth of Moore's mastery of blues styles.
Steve is originally from Eastern Kentucky where bluegrass music was everywhere when he was growing up. Steve said he was totally in love with the groaning sound of the dobro. The first time he heard the blues, the entire sound of a blues band moved him in the same way and he has been a blues lover ever since.
Though bluegrass was his first exposure to music, he never pursued it as a musician until very recently when he was invited to work on Todd Taylor's "Blazin Bluegrass Banjo" CD. Steve said, "I had to buy a square neck dobro and learn to play it from scratch for Todd's CD, which is sure to be nominated for multiple awards in 2004."

The whole CD's message is to show you how the world is like a "Dark Hole". Everyone is blinded by darkness, doing evil things that bring man closer and closer to extinction. This is a very hateful, dark CD that you will love if you like that style of music. It is all done electronically so there are no guitars...but you would be surprised how much better synth can make a song sound.
You have lived a life of greed and hatred... You have torn apart everything that you loved... You did not live your life... Instead, you destroyed it. Welcome to the Darkest Hole.
This CD starts out with a very light, ambient song and then picks up the pace shortly after. With every single track lies a good meaning with uplifting lyrics, as well as a different, more unique sound. This CD has the dreamiest feeling of all of my CD's. With it's upbeat, faster, melodic songs and it's slower, heart-breaking tunes, it is bound to get you hooked. This CD is (in my opinion) my best CD yet and you will not be let down if you like very heart-felt music.

At last, the independent musicians of DMusic.com present a CD-R compilation of 18 Beatles tracks like you've never heard! Rnaging from punk to reggae to country, the new interpretations of old Beatles classics will leave you wanting more.
“Meat Dbeatles†t ends up as an interesting blend of traditional covers and some really new takes on classic songs. As with many Beatles covers, you’ll find some tracks that don’t stray far from the original works – but the songs that fall into this category still have some new twists. A good example is “I Feel Fine†by Vavoom. They play a recognizable rendition of Lennon’s song, but it gets a subtle 90’s alt-rock makeover. Other tracks are virtually untouched, like “Blackbird†by Zlat, but songs like that are great in their simplicity. “Lady Madonna†as done by the Hegg Bros. is also virtually untouched, but it serves as a good show of musicianship from lesser-known artists.
You’ll find some real gems on here, like Luciano’s groovy reggae-pop/soul take on “Imagine,†or 101 Rocks’ “Let It Be.†These serve up some refreshing experiences on songs you’ve heard a million times. The most surprising song on the album is probably “Within You Without You/Tomorrow Never Knows†by Elektronz: a completely electronic take on the trippy originals, while retaining their hypnotic quality.
All in all, “Meat Dbeatles†is a solid collection of respectable covers, with a few surprises thrown in to keep things interesting. Recommended to the Beatles fan who needs some refreshment.

The night of April 20, 1935 was the beginning of the radio program "Your Hit Parade"- one of the longest running shows in history. This radio hit made a transition to telelvisions in 1950. Five categories were counted to create the hit survey: Sheet music sales, record sales, jukebox favorites, requests made to band leaders, and radio plays on network and local stations. The secret of its success is simple, that we love winners of all kinds!
